It’s been over 25 years since the world of hip-hop was rocked by the murder of Tupac Shakur, the legendary rapper who served as the face of Death Row Records and spent the first half of the 1990s engaged in the heated feud with The Notorious B.I.G. and Bad Boy that defined the West Coast vs. East Coast beef.

The artist who stylized his birth name as “2Pac” was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas at the age of 25 on September 7, 1996. The murder transpired close to six months before the man known as Biggie Smalls was slain in a similar manner in Los Angeles, which essentially marked the end of a hallowed but tragic era in the genre they mastered prior to their passing.

While police conducted a lengthy investigation into Tupac’s slaying, no one has ever been charged with the crime.

With that said, there is no shortage of theories concerning the possible culprit; Orland Anderson (a member of the Southside Crips) has long been viewed as one of the top suspects, although there are plenty of people who think Suge Knight may have orchestrated the hit as well as a number of vocal conspiracy theorists who would tell you Shakur is actually still alive to this day.

Now, we’ve been treated to a fairly unsuspected development in the cold case, as 8 News Now reports members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department executed a search warrant in the nearby city of Henderson that they used to gain access to a home in connection to the investigation into Tupac’s murder.

As things currently stand, no details have been released concerning what sparked the search or if any evidence was discovered. However, the fact that the police were able to obtain a warrant in the first place would suggest they’re working with some tangible leads that could potentially result in the case being solved after close to 27 years.
