This week we learned that Hollywood is planning to reboot Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, and Young Guns and we received plot details about Top Gun 2. Now we learn that Hollywood is going digging deep in the well of classic movies to make Lethal Weapon 5 happen. And apparently, 71-year-old Danny Glover is not too old for this shit because he is interesting in bringning back his character Roger Murtaugh.

Deadline is reporting that Glover, Mel Gibson and director Richard Donner are all in for a Lethal Weapon 5.

“Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Richard Donner are all huddling on the possibility of doing another film for the the Lethal Weapon franchise. In the scenario we’ve heard Donner would direct and Channing Gibson (Lethal Weapon 4) would script. There are many moving parts, but we’ve heard that all are on board and exploring another film. It would move forward, of course, at Warner Bros., the studio that has brought audiences four in the franchise.”

Of course Glover would be interested, he hasn’t appeared in anything noteworthy (using the term lightly) since 2009 when he appeared in an episode of My Name Is Earl. Before that he was in the movie Shooter in 2007 and the original Saw movie way back in 2004. With all of Mel Gibson’s past history, he isn’t exactly setting the acting world on fire either. The 61-year-old actor appeared in Daddy’s Home 2 this year and The Expendables 3 in 2014. Donner, who directed all four of the Lethal Weapon movies, is 87-years-old and hasn’t directed anything since 2006’s movie 16 Blocks. All of these guys would be happy to be in such a prominent film.

The sequel would be hard-pressed to be greater than the Lethal Weapon 5 and Lethal Weapon 6 skits the gang from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia pulled off. Those are cinematic classics. The Hollywood studios are probably worried about making a new Lethal Weapon knowing full well that their version couldn’t hold a candle to the It’s Always Sunny versions.
