Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino used his time in federal prison to lose weight and get swole. The Jersey Shore star showed off his impressive weight loss but also flaunted his impressive muscle gain while in lockup.

Mike Sorrentino was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York, two weeks ago. Big Daddy Sitch had been in the cushy federal prison since January 15, 2019, and wisely used his incarceration to get in his best shape in years.

The Situation boasted on Instagram about his 36-pound weight loss with the caption: “This is what it looks like when you turn a negative Situation into a Positive Situation 💪🏼 #clapbackseason lost 36 pounds.”

Sorrentino looks much more ripped in his new Instagram photos than he did in the last episodes of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

Sorrentino was excited about his freedom from prison and was celebrating with a huge steak.

Sorrentino gave his first interview after being released from prison to Entertainment Tonight. In the interview, Sorrentino credited intermittent fasting for losing 36 pounds.

“I went to sleep every night at 10 p.m. I woke up every morning at 7 a.m. and did fasted cardio for about an hour,” he told ET. “I was practicing intermittent fasting while I was in prison. My window of intermittent fasting was between 16 and 17 hours on the weekdays, and 18 and 19 hours on the weekends.”

To gain muscle, Sorrentino said he was working out “two to three times a day” in prison. For tough holidays in jail when he was away from family and friends, The Situation said he would workout three times a day.

But Big Daddy Situation also worked on his mind while in prison for self-preservation. “I had to continually challenge myself, whether it was in the gym, and/or diet,” Sorrentino said. “I was reading books, the Bible and trying to progress spiritually as well. Because if you do not keep yourself busy in there, I saw a lot of guys that weren’t doing those things and you saw depression and anxiety take control, I felt very accomplished staying busy in prison.”

Perhaps, The Situation is setting himself up to be a celebrity diet and fitness personality. Sorrentino could be going down the same road like his Jersey Star co-star Vinny Guadagninio, who has made an entire side-business with his high-fat, low-carb keto lifestyle that helped him lose 50 pounds. Vinny recently released his Keto Guido Cookbook.
