These Are The Most Popular Sandwiches In America And This List Is As Wrong As Wrong Can Be

America's favorite sandwich list 2019 is wrong, these can't be the most popular sandwiches in the United States.

Food can be a divisive topic. While you may swear allegiance to one type of cuisine, a person who you thought you respected and trusted may have an illogical and reprehensible food take which makes you question their sanity. It turns out that over 1,000 fellow Americans have toxic opinions on sandwiches, one of the most glorious culinary creations of all humanity.

There are many delicious sandwiches out there from all across this magnificent country. But only 15 sandwiches made the cut to be named as the best American sandwiches.

A YouGov survey asked the question: “What’s America’s favorite sandwich?” The answer is the grilled cheese sandwich.

The YouGov survey interviewed 1,223 American adults between July 12th and 15th of this year. The grilled cheese sandwich was named the best sandwich by this survey, receiving the most “like” or “somewhat like” responses from respondents. The grilled cheese sandwich earned a 79 percent likeability rating, tops among all of the possible sandwiches.

The ooey-gooey grilled cheese sandwich is great, nobody will deny that fact. Is grilled cheese the best sandwich in the country? No. How are you going to melt some cheese between two slices of bread and declare it to be the best America has to offer? This is a slap in the face of much more complex and satisfying sandwiches.

Coming in second place is a tie between the turkey sandwich and grilled chicken sandwiches with a 75 percent likeability score.

How are you going to have a grilled chicken sandwich as the number two sandwich but fried chicken sandwich doesn’t even make the list? Given the chance, any person who has a sound mind will pick a fried chicken sandwich over a grilled chicken sandwich.

Chick-fil-A didn’t become America’s favorite restaurant chain with their grilled chicken sandwich, it was their delectably deep-fried chicken sandwich. Then you’ve also got buffalo chicken sandwiches and hot chicken sandwiches.

Roast beef, ham and BLT sandwiches rounded out the top six sandwiches in the country. Somehow, the club sandwich, which combines the best of the turkey sandwich and the BLT is only ranked 7th. The bacon sandwich is named 8th and I’d never disrespect bacon, but isn’t a bacon sandwich a BLT without lettuce and tomato?

Other overrated or unfair sandwich ratings include peanut butter and jelly at #8 and the French dip at 15.

Now let’s talk about all of the sandwiches that are missing because there are a lot of them. How did this list not include sandwich classics such as the Italian hero, the PoBoy, cheesesteaks, the Cuban sandwich, pastrami on rye, lobster rolls, bacon egg and cheese, pork roll egg and cheese, fish sandwiches, the muffuletta, shawarma, lox and a smear of cream cheese on a bagel, Monte Cristo, banh mi, bbq brisket, chopped cheese, fluffernutters, sloppy joe, tortas and roast pork?

How are you going to have tuna salad and egg salad in the top 15 (which is preposterous) but not have chicken salad in the mix?

Then there is the age-old debate as to whether burgers and hot dogs are sandwiches. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a sandwich as: “two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between.”

Based on that definition, hamburgers and hot dogs are definitely sandwiches. Not to mention that meatball hoagies made the list and they are basically hamburgers in the shape of little balls.

If they are definitely sandwiches, then they both need to make the list as well as sausage, bratwurst and kielbasa sandwiches. And you have to give deep consideration if the hamburger is the greatest American sandwich of all-time.

This list of the most popular sandwiches in America is garbage and we have nobody to blame but our fellow Americans who have such terrible opinions on sandos.
