Alan Ritchson has quietly become one of the most exciting action stars working today, and that trend looks set to continue in his newest film Motor City. Motor City will be released in movie theaters on July 24.

Motor City is one of four action-adjacent films Alan Ritchson will be starring in this year. Earlier this year, he starred in the well-received Netflix action sci-fi film War Machine.

He’ll also be starring in Runner alongside Owen Wilson — which we shared the trailer for earlier this Spring — and the holiday action-comedy The Man with the Bag alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ritchson isn’t the only A-lister in Motor City as it features a genuinely awesome ensemble cast that incudes Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster, and Ben McKenzie.

Check out the official synopsis and trailer for Motor City, via IFC, below.

“In 1970s Detroit a working-class romantic is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend. After years in prison, he returns with only one mission: revenge.”

“With operatic scale, MOTOR CITY unleashes a barrage of brutal action, magnetic performances, and striking imagery, fueled by a thunderous rock score, precision-crafted action, and immersive sound design to create a visceral, propulsive spectacle built to electrify audiences this summer.”

The film is directed by Potsy Ponciroli — who made Old Henry, a quietly excellent 2021 western with Tim Blake Nelson — and written by Chad St. John, who has previously penned films such as Replicas and London Has Fallen.
