Ohio Man Has Bartender Send A ‘Gorgeous’ Woman A Note. Then She Sends One Back: ‘Best Comeback Ever’

Meeting people IRL is often chancier and more hilarious than it is possible to imagine. Often the real beneficiaries of missed connections or odd couplings are those of us who’re chronically online.

Andrew Nate Holly Jr. (@andrewclayton43), an Ohio-based TikTok creator whose content is largely fitness- and dad-joke focused, took a break from his normal content. He offered a glimpse into how tough it is to meet people, even when you’re an objectively attractive person with solid joke timing. Over 55,000 people watched his video. Many of them offered condolences for his missed connection.

Notes Aren’t Just For Passing In Class

Wearing a light pink shirt against a pink-lit background, Nate Holly describes an interaction he had during a recent night out. “I went to the bar last night,” he says. “And across the way is this beautiful woman.”

He decided to send her a drink. Along with it, he passed a note. It has a simple question written on it: “Single and ready to mingle?”

The woman and her friends “anxiously” (his word) opened the note and started to laugh.

So she wrote a note back: “I’m sorry, but I don’t date a man who doesn’t have a nice car. I don’t date a man who doesn’t have a million dollars in the bank. And I don’t date a man who isn’t seven inches.”

His friends proceeded to crack up.

Anything For Love, But Not That

Not a bit discouraged despite his laughing buddies, Holly decided to keep the correspondence going. So he placed an order with the bartender to buy the woman and her friends a round of drinks.

Then he replied to her reply: “Well, I don’t just have a nice car; I have several. I don’t just have a million dollars in the bank; I have millions of dollars in the bank. And I don’t care how beautiful you are; I’m not cutting three inches off for anybody.”

Comments Section Or Fan Club?

In the comments, everyone is having a great time. People thought his reply was funny and perfect.

“I am so glad I don’t live in your ERA. Your response was great, however I hope you find someone that is humble, kind, loving, hard working,” said @lifeaftersisty.

Kiki.17 (@kiki.77717) added an observation: “Jokes start a date right! [crying-laughing emoji]”

While Jordan Lewis (@jordanlewis202) just cut to the chase: “Sir you are gorgeous (and funny too) [smiling heart emoji] thanks for making me smile.”

The consensus is clear: Funny and handsome is a winning combo, no matter the bank balance.

Meeting Real People In Real Life

It’s possible that Holly’s interaction is just a setup to tell the joke. He is into them after all. But it does point to the frustration and joy of meeting people in real life. If this really happened, at least both parties walk away with a funny story to tell.

However, one relationship expert thinks there are better places than bars to meet potential dates. Esther Perel thinks the best thing you can do to meet someone is talk to strangers. “Talking to strangers is a key life skill everyone should practice,” she told the Today Show in February 2026.

Often, screens get in the way of communication—a person scrolling is a person who doesn’t want to be interrupted. But too, app fatigue is real.

These days, the romantically inclined are looking for love in places like gyms, grocery stores, and street markets. They’re casual, low-stakes environments where you and the other folks are already in a shared experience. So there’s an organic route to conversation.

After all, a debate over organic tomatoes could be the start of something robust.
