Papa John’s Is Testing Out Beer Delivery For Customers In One Lucky Location

We once lived in simpler times where the only instance pizza and politics overlapped was when some idiot running for office decided to eat his slice with a fork and knife, but that all changed pretty quickly last year when former Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter sparked a feud with the DiGiorno’s Twitter account after he got mad at NFL players for kneeling during the national anthem without even thinking about how it would impact his bottom line. The league and the company eventually decided to go their separate ways, and Papa John’s emerged from the rubble with its stock tumbling and a sizeable chunk of its customer base grumbling.

As a result, the perennial runner-up to Pizza Hut and Domino’s is now in a fierce battle with Little Caesar’s for the bronze medal, and they’re going to have to do something a little more innovative than throw in free pepperoncini if they want to keep up. Thankfully, it appears they’re taking some cues from their competitors in a move that could work out pretty well for everyone involved.

According to VinePair, customers in Jeffersonville, Indiana— the location of the first Papa John’s— will now be able to get beer delivered alongside their food thanks to a new pilot program. Customers can pick from five beers including Miller, Coors, and Yuengling, which will be sold in six-packs as well as 16 oz tallboys.

There’s no indication Papa John’s plans to roll this out on a bigger scale at any point in the near future, but let’s just hope the people of Jeffersonville can come through in the clutch.
