Mac Miller’s Death Allegedly The Final Straw For Ariana Grande And Pete Davidson, ‘SNL’ Star Deletes His Instagram

The news broke on Sunday that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson split up and ended their engagement. While the breakup came as a surprise to many since the celebrity couple had gotten 13 tattoos celebrating their seemingly eternal love for one another, Davidson had previously joked about the breakup on an episode of Saturday Night Live.

On the September 29th episode of Saturday Night Live, Davidson joked about not getting paid for the “Pete Davidson” song. During the “Weekend Update” segment, Davidson told his co-star Colin Jost, “You know, I don’t even get royalties for that ‘Pete Davidson’ song?”

“God forbid we split up and she takes half my sneakers,” Davidson joked on SNL about getting a prenup. “If we break up, and we won’t — we will — but we won’t,” he joked, “but like in 10 years if, god forbid that ever happened, there will be a song called ‘Pete Davidson’ playing in speakers at Kmart and I’ll be working there.”

Pete also said that he switched Ariana’s birth control with Tic Tacs to “make sure that she can’t go anywhere.” You can check out the entire SNL skit below.

Since the breakup, Davidson has deleted his Instagram account and Ariana has disabled comments on her own account.

TMZ is reporting that the tragic death of Mac Miller was the final straw that caused the split between Grande and Davidson. After Miller’s apparent drug overdose in September, Grande was reportedly in a “dark place” and it opened her eyes that maybe she was moving too fast in her relationship with the SNL star.

The Sun reported that the 25-year-old Grande dumped Davidson because she felt he wasn’t emotionally supportive enough to her after Miller’s death. This led to constant arguments and eventually the sudden breakup after the five-month whirlwind romance where the couple were planning to get married in 2019.

“Ariana has been devastated and Pete couldn’t handle it,” a source claimed. “She realized she needs a grown-up who can support her and that’s not him. They secretly split a week ago and she’s already moved out of the apartment.”
