With more and more companies trying to be environmentally friendly, many of the items that people have gotten used to over the years are beginning to change.
One such example is taking place at McDonald’s where their iconic white, yellow and red plastic straws are going the way of the dinosaur as the company continues to make the change to paper straws at locations all over the world.
Which means, of course, that there are now people out there hoarding these plastic McDonald’s straws and trying to sell them as collector’s items on eBay to nostaglic bidders for, in some cases, thousands of dollars.
“DISCONTINUED AND RARE – BRAND NEW Mcdonalds Plastic Straw” reads one such listing with a starting bid of around $269.23.

Another listing accurately calls the McDonald’s plastic straws they are selling “REUSABLE.”
The most expensive listings I found were one with a Buy It Now price of $6,344.10 and another listed at $7,049.00.

“A superb opportunity to acquire a rare plastic McDonalds straw,” reads the description for the $6,344 listing. “2018 vintage and preserved in it’s [sic] original paper wrapper.”
Some folks are even throwing in a plastic “scoop” straw to increase the value of the purchase.
“Here we have one sealed McDonalds scoop straw and one sealed white straw with red and yellow pinstripes,” reads that listing. “McDonald’s no longer sell these, they will increase in value in 10 years.”
$237.56 and they can both be yours.
Right now there are literally dozens of these listings for McDonald’s plastic straws on eBay, but who knows how long that will continue. Better get your bids in today, just in case.
