Ryan Reynolds Hints Deadpool Will Appear In Phase 5 Of The MCU

The strange saga of Wade Wilson and his superhero alter-ego Deadpool has more twists and turns than most soap operas. And I am not even talking about what he does on screen. I’m referring to all the drama that’s taken place behind the scenes.

Five years ago, in July of 2014, test footage for a potential Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds “leaked” online, ultimately leading to Fox green-lighting the movie. Reynolds attributed Fox giving them the go-ahead for one reason only, “Exclusively the leaked test footage, 100 percent.”

This year at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Deadpool was nowhere to be found, fueling concern about the future of The Merc With A Mouth.

Back in April at this year’s CinemaCon, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn assured those in attendance that they would “be seeing more of Deadpool in the years to come.”

Three months later, just prior to Comic-Con, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch said Disney still hadn’t assured him Deadpool 3 is actually going to get made.

On Sunday, Ryan Reynolds once again got Deadpool fans hopes up with a cryptic message on Instagram that both celebrated the five-year anniversary of the leak that got the first movie made as well as a tease that the character will be a part of Phase 5 of the MCU.

“Investigation heading into year 5. Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn. #LeakAversary,” Reynolds wrote.

Now the questions is whether this another alleged Deadpool leak? It certainly would be very fitting for Reynolds to do such a thing on the anniversary of the first leak.

Phase 4 of the MCU is currently scheduled to include five movies and five television series, all set to be released in 2020 and 2021. So does this mean we will have to wait until 2022 for a third Deadpool movie?
