The San Francisco Police Department Keeps Making Its Robot Sound More And More Violent And Terrifying

Just last week, the San Francisco Police Department proposed a plan to introduce terrifying killer robots. The department proposed the idea to the city’s Board of Supervisors in situations where deadly force is “required.”

The proposed policy reads, in part, as follows:

“Robots will only be used as a deadly force option when risk of loss of life to members of the public or officers are imminent and outweigh any other force option available to SFPD.”

And, according to Mission Local, the proposal understandably has some people waving red flags. After all, who doesn’t want killer robots running around at the discretion of their local police force?

Citizens as a whole tend to be warier and warier of an increasingly militarized potential police state.

But the SFPD recently assured citizens that there’s nothing to worry about. You see, the robots won’t actually be equipped with guns. Instead, they’ll only be equipped with explosives.

San Francisco Police Department Ups The Ante On Terrifying Murder Robots

The city granted permission for use of the robots on Tuesday, according to local news station KRON 4. But the SFPD is its doing its best to try and assuage citizens’ fears. Though they seem to have only made things much, much worse in the process.

The San Francisco Police Department said it does not have pre-armed robots and has no plans to arm robots with guns. But the department could deploy robots equipped with explosive charges “to contact, incapacitate, or disorient violent, armed, or dangerous suspect” when lives are at stake, SFPD spokesperson Allison Maxie said in a prepared statement.

“Robots equipped in this manner would only be used in extreme circumstances to save or prevent further loss of innocent lives,” she said. – via KRON 4

So San Franciscans don’t need to worry about gun-toting robots. They only have to worry about robots with bombs. Got it. Definitely much less terrifying.

Clearly, police in San Francisco don’t watch many movies.
