Turns out that drinking more coffee is beneficial. A scientific study of nearly 20,000 people has found the amount of coffee that you should be drinking every day to improve your health. The Spanish study, which was presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Barcelona earlier this week, found a connection between increased coffee consumption and living longer. The study conducted by Hospital de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, surveyed 19,986 middle-aged people over the course of 10 years found that drinking four cups of coffee daily lowers the chances of death.

Relax Jimmie. We all know you know how good your coffee is. But this is a scientific study that tells everyone how good coffee is for them. Over the 10-year study, there were 337 participants who died. Based on data, participants who drank at least four cups of coffee a day had a 64% lower risk of death than those who never or almost never drank coffee. That’s a huge number.

This makes sense since there are so many benefits linked to coffee including a great source of fiber, protection against cirrhosis of the liver, lowered risk of Type 2 Diabetes, lowered risk of Alzheimer’s disease, decreased chance of heart disease, reduces colorectal cancer risk, and lower risk of multiple sclerosis. The only question that remains is: do the same health benefits apply if you put whiskey in your coffee?
