Every generation has their favorite Saturday Night Live cast but what’s interesting is that cast doesn’t necessarily align with their age group at all. For me, it was that era when Will Ferrell was a veteran alongside Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Ana Gasteyer, Jimmy Fallon, and others.

I say that, but when I think about the ‘glory days’ of SNL for me it was really the short-lived Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and Chris Farley era back when I was too young to care about staying up on Saturday nights to actually watch the show but Comedy Central was running Saturday Night Live reruns pretty much all day every day back then so that era felt like I was there for it even though I rarely watched it in real-time.

What’s all this rambling about? Well, a new Twitter account that was launched in January of thisyear and it’s been one of the best follows of 2019 for me. By the way, you can always find me on Twitter at @casspa. This new account, @SNLSnippets, allows followers to request their favorite SNL sketches of all time and they’ll tweet out those clips.

I stumbled upon this account when someone retweeted what is probably my #1 all-time favorite sketch,’Jimmy Tango’s Fat Busters’, which is a sketch starring Jim Carrey from when he hosted SNL, on 05/18/1996. In the sketch, Carrey is ‘Jimmy Tango’ who is selling a weight-loss program which is basically just meth and a lack of sleep. It’s Jim Carrey allowed to take his comedic genius to a place we don’t often get to see anymore.

Here’s that sketch:

Some other excellent sketches shared recently include this ‘Mom Jeans’ sketch that was perfect timing for Mother’s Day this past weekend:

Here’s Will Forte trying to spell ‘Business’ at a spelling bee, a character that Will Forte is absolutely perfect for:

Norm Macdonald’s ‘Great Moments in Yankees History’ was a classic:

This ‘Dog Show’ sketch with Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon had me dead:

The ‘Gap Girls’ sketch with Farley, Sandler, and Spade is legendary:

And it’s not just the sketched that @SNLSnippets is sharing, here’s a memorable performance of ‘Clap Hands’ by Beck:

There’s no hook here. I don’t know the creator of @SNLSnippets or who is running it. I just thought I’d share some of the best Saturday Night Live sketches from yesteryear with you guys today and if you’ve got one in mind that you want to see you can hit them up on Twitter.
