Just last week, The Batman director Matt Reeves shared a haunting first-look at Robert Pattinson donning the iconic cape and cowl, revealing the new Batsuit for the first time in the process. Like all things related to Batman movies, there were some that adored it and some that despised it. Minus the collar, I fell into the former category. Plus, Batsuit aside, the entire tone of the admittedly brief clip was just spot on, *especially* the already-epic sounding score.
Reeves clearly released this Pattinson test footage for a reason, as tons of set photos have leaked in the days since, including some that seem to confirm that The Batman is taking inspiration from The Long Halloween.
That trend of leaked set photos continued today as Robert Pattinson’s stunt double was pictured in full Dark Knight gear, therefore giving fans their best look at the new Batsuit yet.
As it’s been widely reported, and considering that Robert Pattinson is just 33-years-old, The Batman is set to follow the Caped Crusader during his early days of crimefighting, long before he has all of the knowledge and experience that we typically associate with the Dark Knight, and the paramilitary, stripped-down look of this costume certainly echoes that idea.
The Batman — which stars Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham District Attorney Gil Colson — is set to hit theaters in the United States on Friday, June 25, 2021.
