  • The Dark Knight celebrated its 13-year anniversary on July 18.
  • Movie fans took to Twitter to celebrate the beloved Batman film.
  • Heath Ledger’s Joker performance, as always, was the center of the conversation.

On Sunday, July 18th, The Dark Knight — not only one of the great comic book movies of all-time but frankly, one of the greatest films ever made (at least in the 21st century) — celebrated its 13-year anniversary (!), leading movie fans across the globe to hop on social media to pay tribute to the iconic film.

Of course, whenever a conversation around Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Batman epic arises, it usually focuses on the legendary performance of Heath Ledger, a performance that still — to this day — blows peoples’ minds with its unhinged realism and authenticity.

Naturally, as fans celebrated the 13-year anniversary of The Dark Knight’s release, Ledger’s Academy Award-winning performance as Gotham City’s Clown Prince of Crime took center stage.

At the time of this writing, The Dark Knight is available to stream on both HBO Max and Hulu. We’ve written tons of evergreen Dark Knight content over the years, so we’ll make sure to link all that below in case you find yourself in a retrospective mood.
