Theo Von's third Netflix special will release on October 20
Theo Von’s first Netflix stand-up special in five years has released its first trailer. A taping of the special in New York City last summer sparked concern after reports of Von’s allegedly erratic behavior.
Netflix released the first clip for Theo Von: I’m Doing Fine, which will be released on Netflix on October 20. Von’s last special, Regular People, was released on the streaming service in 2021.
Netflix has released the first trailer for the Theo Von stand-up special that drew concern from fans during a taping in 2025
In the trailer, Von tells a rambling story about a man hauling a 30-pound bag of hamster bones and doing spotty crowd work.
In the summer of 2025, after an attempted taping of the special in New York City, fans called the performance “rough,” with Complex reporting that one attendee said Von “seemed unrehearsed and disorganized.”
A clip circulated of Von joking about “trying not to take my own life” after a “long month,” which worried fans. Von last addressed it on his podcast, This Past Weekend, saying, “I would never take my own life,” and that he felt “off” that night. He said then that the team might re-record it.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed whether the final cut of I’m Doing Fine uses footage from that taping or a new one. Theo Von: I’m Doing Fine — perhaps a self-referential title — will hit Netflix on Tuesday, October 20.
2026 has been one of the biggest years of Von’s career as he also starred in the movie Busboys alongside David Spade — his first starring role in a comedy film. The film, which is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+, has a 64% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (it hasn’t received enough critics’ reviews to produce a consensus score).
