Oregon Woman Weaponizes Bean Dip, Poisons Co-Workers With Meth In Lame ‘Breaking Bad’ Knock-Off

Thanks to Breaking Bad, every time I read literally anything about methamphetamine, my mind is immediately transported to the blue meth-smoking, bald head-filled desert landscapes of the New Mexican Breaking Bad universe. I just can’t help it. You know how when you see ketchup you automatically start craving french fries (maybe that’s just me though)? Same phenomenon.

So, naturally, when I read this story about a 38-year-old Oregon woman casually sneaking illicit methamphetamine into her co-worker’s bloodstreams through a trojan horse of bean dip, I can’t help but think she probably got the idea from one of Jesse and Walt’s ricin-filled escapades in Breaking Bad.

What Cassandra Medina-Hernandez forgot, though, is that ricin was essentially untraceable, which clearly isn’t the case when it comes to meth.

According to The Smoking Gun, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said that the 38-year-old Medina-Hernandez “provided the spiked bean dip to a woman who fell ill after consuming it. Upon being treated at a hospital.”

The 27-year-old victim told cops that Medina-Hernandez, who was working in the store’s deli department, provided her with the bean dip, a probable cause affidavit states.

A fellow Thriftway employee told police that Medina-Hernandez “told her about placing drugs inside” the victim’s food. A second worker told investigators that “Cassandra had messaged her” to claim that “placing the methamphetamine in the food was an accident.”

After opening a criminal probe earlier this month, investigators determined that “at least one other employee had consumed bean dip from the same dish that was believed to have been contaminated.”

Unlike Walt and Jesse, though, Medina-Hernandez was arrested by police and charged with a litany of crimes, such as unlawful delivery of methamphetamine and recklessly endangering another person. She was then taken to the Marion County jail where she’s being held on $520,000 bail.

And in case you needed another reason to find bean dip disgusting, here you go — compliments of the meth chef.
