  • Officials attempting to recapture two escaped zebras that remain lose in Maryland have dreamed up a new strategy
  • The plan is incredibly similar to an approach Charlie deployed to track down a cat that was stuck in a wall in an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

February 15, 2015 will forever be remembered as one of the most legendary days in one history, as the world spent the afternoon captivated by a couple of llamas who were filmed running through the streets of Sun City, Arizona during a chase that was quickly overshadowed by The Dress that tore the internet apart.

Last month, we were treated to the start of a new saga involving a couple of exotic animals on the lam when a trio of zebras escaped from a farm in Maryland. While one of the zebras died after being caught in an illegal snare in Prince George County, officials are still on the hunt for two of the liberated animals and have dreamed up a new plan in the hopes of finally reuniting them with the rest of their herd.

According to WUSA9, Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources teamed up with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as the owner and a caretaker at the farm to construct a new enclosure that’s currently home to two more zebras as well as some food they hope will lure in the escaped duo.

If the plan to catch the zebras by deploying more zebras sounds familiar, it may be because Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia used a virtual identical strategy in “Mac and Dennis Break Up.” In the episode, he unsuccessfully attempts to track down a cat stuck inside the wall of Dee’s apartment by introducing a second cat to the situation (which ultimately leads to a collection of cats getting trapped inside).

Here’s to hoping this plan turns out to be slightly more effective than that one.
