Check Out The Intense Workouts Alison Brie Used To Prep For Her Wrestling-Themed Show ‘GLOW’
When I found out that Alison Brie was going to be playing one of the women on a show based on the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, I was both excited and a little bit skeptical. I was excited because I love Alison Brie. (Who doesn’t?) But I was skeptical because she doesn’t exactly come off as the type of person, both in appearance as well as demeanor, that would be a professional wrestler. Turns out I worried for nothing because GLOW is a smash hit and Brie pulled off her role in pretty impressive fashion.
A big part of the reason for the show and Brie’s success on the show has a lot to do with all of the intense training she put in to prepare for her role as Ruth Wilder. Brie worked out for months with trainer Jason Walsh in preparation for becoming a believable wrestler.
“Alison did all her stunts,” Walsh recently told Business Insider. “I’ll tell you right now, I’ve worked with a lot of people and she’s a little bad a–.”
“Alison would be jumping off ropes and landing on people and flipping. I wanted to get her resilient so she didn’t run the risk of injury,” Walsh said. “The science of training has really shifted the past decade to that more than glamour muscles.”
Walsh and Brie even shared a great look at some of the exercises and workouts she went through prior to ever actual filming…
