Porsche is slowly moving into the all-electric car market and plans to challenge Tesla with their new beautiful Mission E automobile. There is still a lack of charging stations for EVs, so hybrids are still a great option to get improved fuel economy. Porsche unveiled their 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid this week and it packs a punch in horesepower, tech, and style.

The new and improved 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid with eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission is faster, more powerful, and can go farther than its predecessor that arrived in 2015. The 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid features a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that has 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque on the gas side. The gas engine is teamed up with an electric motor that adds 134 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The final output is 455 horsepower, up to 6,400 rpm and 516 pound-feet of torque. The new Cayenne has a top speed of 157 mph and sprints from zero to 60 mph in a mere 4.7 seconds, seven-tenths faster than the previous model.

The liquid-cooled 14.1kWh battery pack on the hybrid Porsche supplies enough juice to have an electric range of 27.3 miles and has 30% more capacity than the previous model. The E-Hybrid takes 2.3 hours to recharge the with a quick charger or approximately 7.8 hours with a standard charger. The electric motor has a top speed of 83 mph. The Porsche Connect App can start, monitor, and stop the charging process from your phone. The app can also provide you with directions to a charging station.

The high-performance German hybrid comes Porsche’s Sport Chrono package that includes six driving modes (four of which are exclusively for hybrids), Porsche Traction Management active all-wheel drive, full air suspension called Porsche Active Suspension Management, a heated windshield, massaging seats, Auxiliary Cabin Conditioning to help heat/cool the interior while charging, full-color head-up display (a first for Porsche), and 22-inch wheels (also a first for Porsche). Porsche adds a new feature called InnoDrive, which is an advanced cruise control that uses GPS to scan your route and adapts to changing speed limits and unexpected delays such as construction zones. The InnoDrive scans 1.8 miles ahead to optimize engine and motor power delivery. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid will go on sale early next year with a starting price of $80,950, which includes destination charges.
