The Geneva International Motor Show has just awarded its prestigious 2018 Car of the Year Award to the new Volvo XC40. The Volvo XC40 beat out six other finalists for the honor. They were the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi A8, BMW 5 series, Citroën C3 Aircross, Kia Stinger, and Seat Ibiza.
A jury made up of 60 journalists from 23 European countries voted today using the criteria taken into consideration for the award, which includes innovation, security, design, and the value for money.

Hakan Samuelsson [CEO of Volvo] was very proud to be awarded this year’s trophy. “The XC40 really deserved this accolade. To receive it in Geneva is all the more rewarding as this is my favorite motor show.“ Volvo has been a finalist on a number of occasions, but this is the first time it has won this prestigious award, with 83 points separating it of its competitors. The President of the Jury, Frank Janssen, motoring journalist from the German magazine STERN handed over the trophy.
