San Francisco 49ers‘ quarterback Brock Purdy is set to make a remarkable return to the field after undergoing right elbow surgery earlier this year.

General Manager John Lynch announced that Purdy has been given the green light to participate in practice and is “Ready to go.”

Purdy’s journey to recovery has been commendable, having battled back from offseason UCL surgery to be prepared in time for the training camp.

Lynch praised Purdy’s determination, stating, “He’s worked his tail off” to get to this point. The quarterback’s relentless efforts have earned him the opportunity to take first-team reps in practice.

Head Coach Kyle Shanahan shared insight into Purdy’s comeback plan, revealing that the quarterback will follow a structured pitch count, throwing for two days and taking one day off. This gradual approach is designed to ensure a smooth and safe return to action.

Addressing the quarterback situation, Shanahan emphasized that Purdy’s potential return as the team’s starter for the 2023 season is very much on the cards.

Despite discussions surrounding other quarterbacks like Trey Lance or Sam Darnold potentially starting in Week 1, Purdy’s previous impressive performances, including a 5-0 record during the regular season where he threw for 1374 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions, have solidified his position as a strong contender.

Regarding Purdy’s practice schedule with the starting offense, Shanahan affirmed that Purdy will be with the starters when he’s on the field. However, the team will manage his throwing plan carefully, ensuring that he never goes three consecutive days of throwing to prevent any strain on his recovering elbow.

The 49ers are undoubtedly excited about Purdy’s return, and fans can’t wait to see him back in action during the upcoming season.

With his dedication and previous accomplishments, Brock Purdy is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s success in 2023.
