San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk appears to be taking the Antonio Brown route of sabotaging his NFL career. After multiple unhinged social media posts and videos of him displaying troubling behavior, he has now appeared to mock head coach Kyle Shanahan’s very serious car crash.
Shanahan is still recovering from a devastating crash that he admittedly caused, which involved a head-on collision with another car driven by a 21-year-old woman. He suffered a broken nose, three broken ribs, a fractured hand, required over forty stitches in his face, and suffered a severe concussion. Luckily, according to all reports, the woman did not suffer any significant injuries.
The coach admitted that he took his eyes off the road briefly to find his phone, which fell between the seats, and when he looked up, he had gone over the centerline, causing the crash. “When I hit her, I’ll never forget how violent the impact was,” he revealed on Tuesday.
Brandon Aiyuk, who is on the San Francisco 49ers’ reserve/left team list due to his alleged failure to attend team-mandated knee rehab sessions, has been trying to force a trade. He has just been doing it in all of the worst ways possible.
Aiyuk continued down that path on Tuesday, making a not-at-all subtle reference to Kyle Shanahan’s car crash on his Instagram stories.
“You can’t win the race if you crash out,” Aiyuk posted, then added another slide which read, “Keep yo head up and stay in yo own lane. You gone win.”

Brandon Aiyuk’s posts are just the latest in a string of bizarre claims, run-ins with the law, and other troubling behavior.
His goal, it would seem, is to somehow end up on the Washington Commanders with his former college teammate Jayden Daniels. Although after Aiyuk went after Daniels on social media on the Fourth of July, that is now in question.
On Tuesday, JP Finlay of NBC Sports subtly brought up Brandon Aiyuk to Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters without actually mentioning him by name. Peters made it sound like the wide receiver’s behavior could definitely be a hindrance to him ever wearing a Commanders uniform.
