Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown claims that he, not ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, broke the news of quarterback Russell Wilson signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a tweet that Brown posted on Monday morning, the erratic former Steelers pass catcher posted what he claims is a direct message between him and Schefter that sees the former tell the latter he “broke the news” of Wilson signing with Pittsburgh two days before he did.

Because this is Brown, however, the validity of the DM cannot be confirmed.

“Adam what good CTESPN broke the news two days ago. I got sources. Can I get credit? Be big for my company,” AB allegedly messaged Schefter.

“Hope all is well, AB. Good work. Russ didn’t agree to the deal until tonight but I will keep looking out for you. Keep up the good work and hope all well,” Schefter allegedly replied.

In addition to claiming that “CTESPN broke the news” of Wilson landing in the AFC North, Brown also called Scheter the “cracker of the day” in his tweet.

In recent weeks, Brown has been calling out tons of celebrities on Twitter, such as Tom Brady, Taylor Swift, Dave Portnoy, Shannon Sharpe, and more. Now Schefter has been added to that list.

Before he began dabbling in sports journalism, meme-making, rapping, and the other various bizarre hobbies that he’s taken up in recent years, Brown was a receiver in the National Football League from 2010 to 2021.

During his 11 seasons in the NFL, Brown played for the Steelers, Oakland Raiders (albeit just during the preseason), New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and racked up 928 catches for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.

While Brown was considered one of the best wide receivers of his generation, his erratic personality ultimately unraveled his career towards the end, as he played in just 16 regular season games with three different teams across his final three years in the league. The prime of Brown’s career came with the Steelers from 2011 to 2018 when he was catching passes from Ben Roethlisberger.
