The Arizona Cardinals have had a tough time getting their whole offense on the field together this season.

In fact, it didn’t happen a single time.

The year started with DeAndre Hopkins serving a 6-game suspension. Before he was able to return, Marquise Brown ended up on IR with an ankle injury. By the time he came back, Zach Ertz was out for the year with a knee injury.

Hopkins and Brown only played one full game together before Kyler Murray suffered a torn ACL.

Now they’re even having trouble with the health of their backup quarterback.

Colt McCoy suffered a concussion during the Cardinals’ Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos and missed last week’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Trace McSorley started in his place in a difficult game where the Cardinals blew a 10-point lead late in the game and lost in overtime.

The Cardinals were expecting to have McCoy back this week, but experienced more concussion symptoms after clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Despite the injury news, it seems McSorely won’t be getting the start again this week. The Cardinals announced today that they will be starting David Blough against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

This will be Blough’s second team that he has filled in as a starter for in his NFL career. He previously started 5 games for the Detroit Lions in 2019.

Unfortunately, those starts didn’t produce the best results. Blough went 0-5 as the starter, throwing 6 interceptions to just 4 touchdowns, and averaging just under 200 passing yards per game.

Blough has thrown just 10 passes since then and found himself on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad until the Cardinals signed him after Murray’s injury.

They’ll be hoping his 2nd stint as a starter goes a bit better as they head to Atlanta riding a 5-game losing streak.
