Yuli Gurriel’s lapse of judgement during game 3 of the World Series could cost the Astros. Last night, the Astros first baseman appeared to mock Dodgers’ Asian pitcher Yu Darvish by making a racist slanty eyed gesture and mouthing the word “chinito” which means “little chinese person” in spanish while in the dugout after a home run.
Lips read Spanish“Chinito” which means “little Chinese”, I assume mocking his Asian origin, this is beyond low #WorldSeries #astros #dodgers https://t.co/lQGJ1c8HLW

After the game, Yuriel apologized for making the gesture.
“I didn’t try to offend nobody,” Gurriel said in Spanish through a translator. “I was commenting to my family that I didn’t have any luck against Japanese pitchers here in the United States.”
Darvish seemed to accept Gurriel’s apology and wanted to move on from the situation.

The MLB intends to look into the matter and could suspend Gurriel for his actions.
I've been told MLB will interview Gurriel about the dugout gesture toward Darvish and consider discipline.
