Bill Belichick’s tenure with the New England Patriots has been nothing short of legendary. But, many expect that this disappointing season will be his last with the New England Patriots.

After the team lost to the Jets, 17-3, in the final game of the season on Sunday to finish 4-13, Belichick addressed the very uncertain future he has in New England.

It’s a disappointing year for all of us. Players, coaches, staff, the entire organization, not anything that any of us are in any way content with. So, but it is what it is. So I’ll address some questions on the game. As far as the future goes, I’ll sit down with (team owner Robert Kraft), as I do every year at some point, the end of the season. We’ll talk about things as we always do. I’m sure that’ll happen. That’s all I have to say about that right now, because there’s nothing else to talk about.

A few reporters tried to get Bill Belichick to take the bait on answering questions about his future, but he refused to give them true answers to their questions.

Bill Belichick has been the coach of the New England Patriots since the 2023 season, and has accomplished more than arguably any coach in history. His six Super Bowl titles and nine appearances alongside the great Tom Brady at quarterback are the most of any coach. The Patriots had a remarkable seventeen consecutive seasons of double-digit regular season wins, and they won 30 a truly unbelievable 30 playoff games with him as head coach.

But, since Brady left following the 2019 season, the team has made just one playoff apperance and have zero playoff wins. This year’s 4-13 season was truly painful to watch, and it seems like Belichick, who also serves as the de-facto GM, is out of touch with the modern game.

Nevertheless, if he and New England do part ways, it seems likely that Bill Belichick wants to coach again and will have plenty of options to do so. It will be weird to see, but we watched Joe Montana play for the Chiefs and Tom Brady play for the Buccaneers.
