There’s A Very Good Chance The Bills Will Be Stuck In Buffalo The Entire Weekend Due Massive Blizzard

Snow May Prevent Bills From Traveling To Detroit To Play Browns

Earlier this week, the points total for Sunday’s game between the Bills and the Browns began to drop at multiple sportsbooks as bettors began to hammer the under thanks to the looming threat of a snowstorm that had started to form over Lake Erie and was projected to hit Buffalo with up to six feet of snow starting on Friday morning and stretching into the weekend.

That obviously presented a bit of a logistical nightmare for the NFL, which ultimately prioritized the safety of fans and a Browns team that would’ve had to brave the elements to make it to Highmark Stadium by relocating the contest to Detroit.

That seemed to be a very good call based on the wild pictures and videos we’ve been treated to since the blizzard arrived in upstate New York, which understandably resulted in the Bills deciding to cancel the practice they had planned for Friday.

Ford Field is ready to host the game after quickly dismantling the indoor carnival it had planned to hold with the Lions on the road over the weekend, but as of Friday afternoon, there’s a strong chance it might not be played at all based on the major headache the Bills are currently dealing with.

Josina Anderson spoke with an NFL official who said the team was struggling to firm up travel arrangements, as Erie County has banned all non-essential vehicles from the road due to the state of emergency that’s also kept flights at Buffalo Niagara International Airport grounded since Thursday night.

According to Albert Breer, Bills head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged the plan was still very much up in the air as the team continues to work in conjunction with the league to try to navigate an incredibly unenviable situation.

If the game can’t be played on Sunday, it will mark just the third time in NFL history a contest was moved to a different date due to snow: the Bills also fell victim to the lake effect when their game against the Jets was moved to Detroit in 2014, while the Vikings and Eagles had their Sunday Night Football matchup pushed to Tuesday due to a blizzard in Philadelphia.
