Bills Kicker Tyler Bass Speaks Out After Brutal Miss In Loss To Kansas City Chiefs

The Buffalo Bills yet again came up against the Kansas City Chiefs in a playoff game on Sunday.

And, yet again, the Buffalo Bills walked out on the wrong end of things.

This time, it was Bills kicker Tyler Bass who landed in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after missing a late field goal that would have tied the game. But Bass isn’t hiding from the criticism. Instead, he’s taking it head on.

“Ultimately, it’s completely on me. I’ve got to do a better job of getting through to my target,” Bass said after the Bills’ 27-24 loss. “I’ve got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right [wind]. I’ve been here long enough to know that you have to do that. You know, I was trusting my line that I had in warmups. Hit a good ball, but it didn’t work out. I feel terrible, you know? I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I’ve got to do a better job. Totally on me.”

Now, who knows if that’s reality. Of course Bass should have made the kick. But there was a lot of time left in the game.

Patrick Mahomes could well have marched right back down the field for the game-winning field goal.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen made a point to wait for Bass and comfort him in the tunnel after the contest. Allen also defended Bass in his postgame press conference.

“I wish [Bass] wouldn’t have been put in that situation,” he said. “You win as a team, you lose as a team. One play doesn’t define a game. It doesn’t define a season. I know people are going to be out there saying that. We got to be there for him because again, we execute a couple of plays prior, probably singing a different tune right now.”

Instead, the Bills failed to execute. And once again their season ended at the hands of Kansas City.
