The college basketball world is asking one question following the news that USC head coach Andy Enfield is accepting the SMU job: What will Bronny James do?

Speculation surrounding the freshman is at a high with the offseason now underway for the Trojans.

A number of options are on the table for James, who entered this year as one of the most notable signees in the sport. A five-star prospect, he was expected to give Enfield’s bunch an immediate boost.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned.

Shortly into that USC career, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest while practicing on the court. The health scare put his rookie season in doubt, though he would go on to make a full recovery.

After missing the first eight contests of the 2023-24 campaign, Bronny made his debut.

He’d score four points in a loss to Long Beach State while logging 16 minutes of action. Both USC and James struggled with consistency throughout the year, some of which can be blamed on that lengthy absence in the guard’s case.

The Trojans went just 15-18, missing out on the postseason. James averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 assists per game while making six starts.

There were positives, which included a trio of double-digit performances in PAC 12 play. One of those came in a matchup with Sweet 16-bound Arizona when he posted 11 points and six dimes.

But there were also downs as he failed largely to live up to the lofty expectations set by fans and media during the offseason.

Now, he has another obstacle to overcome with his head coach leaving campus, as well as a decision to make on his future.

Would Bronny James leave USC for the NBA or the transfer portal?

Everyone knows his father, LeBron, would love nothing more than to play alongside his son at the NBA level. Though Bronny didn’t have the year he’d hoped for in Los Angeles, is there a chance he declares for the draft?

Surely, someone would think about giving him a shot if it meant potentially bringing on the league’s all-time leading scorer, too.

If not, there are certainly a few schools that would stand out in terms of transfer options.

SMU would be an immediate team of interest considering that’s where his former head coach will now land. With the Mustangs making the move to the ACC next year, paired with the opportunity to live in another big city in Dallas, it’s not that outlandish to believe.

Or what about Duquesne? We saw LeBron’s ties to the program during the NCAA Tournament as his former high school coach led the Dukes to the Round of 32.

While Keith Dambrot is retiring, it appears the university is promoting one of LeBron’s old high school teammates to fill his position.

Or maybe he’d stay on the West Coast with Oregon, a team that also made the Round of 32 and finished as his recruiting runner-up.

It could be a busy offseason for Bronny James, and everyone wants to know where his head is at!

Will he stay at USC, or will he go elsewhere?
