Bubba Watson hits a shot from the bunker.
Bubba Watson confronted a fan during LIV Golf’s final event of the 2026 season. Prior to his opening round in Indiana, he chirped at an unruly attendee for yelling during a competitor’s warm up.
The interaction gave the perception that the tournament is not being taken seriously. Those on site are making a mockery of the event as the league scrambles to find answers for the future.
LIV Golf as we know it is over after Sunday’s round in Indianapolis wraps up. The league does not have the financial backing it once did. It will look much different in 2027 should they secure funding.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund opted to cut its cash flow, leaving LIV unable to pay its bills. Players are reportedly waiting on past tournament payouts. Vendors have been left high and dry. One lawsuit has already been filed.
With the PIF out, the league has been in search of outside partnerships. It appears to have found one wealthy investor willing to continue funding the league.
With that said, the massive tournament pots and player payouts are likely to stop. It will cause LIV Golf to lose some of its luster, if this year hasn’t already wiped the shine away.
The league cancelled its previously scheduled season ending tournament in Michigan, making LIV Indianapolis the final event. Tensions from a week of drama seem to be boiling over.

On Friday, a fan shouted during a Lee Westwood putting session prior to the tournament’s start. Watson took immediate offense.
He approached the fan and dared him to continue with his unruliness. It is unclear if further action was taken, though there is not public report of an ejection.
Not everyone has been so lucky to avoid an exit from the course. Bryson DeChambeau had a reporter removed on Thursday ahead of his final tournament.
Got booted off the range by Bryson today. #1,892 on the list of what the hell has happened to my life. https://t.co/2FR03fGWdl

The off-field drama continues to make the league’s last event feel more like a joke than a competitive tournament. Players appear frustrated. Fans couldn’t care less about the golf. Leadership has more questions than answers.
Unfortunately, it’s a fitting end to the LIV Golf season, at least for critics that have been opposed to the league since Day 1.
Despite the confrontation, Watson has played well following the outburst. He currently sits at -11 and in a tie for sixth place.
