Not only is Lionel Messi — undoubtedly the greatest footballer of all time — but he’s pretty popping on Instagram these days, too.

Following Argentina’s World Cup Final victory over France, Messi’s Instagram post celebrating the achievement became the most-liked photo in the entire history of the app, a title previously held by a photo of an egg. At the time of this writing, Messi’s first World Cup title post has over 65 million likes (and counting).

Then, on Monday, Messi — who now has 400 followers on the app — posted an incredible black-and-white cinematic ad produced by none other than Budweiser, who coincidentally made headlines at the start of the tournament due to FIFA and Qatar’s 11th-hour decision to not sell alcoholic beer.

During the 2022 World Cup, Messi scored seven goals — including two in the final — and provided three assists, which was enough to earn him the Golden Ball award (which is given to the best player of the tournament). Messi did lose out on the Golden Boot (given to the highest scorer) to Kylian Mbappe, though, which we’re sure he’s just fine with given the result of the final.

Despite the fact that he’s now 35 years old, Messi has indicated that he will not be retiring from international competition, as he has indicated he wants to play for Argentina as a World Cup champion.

As for his club career, recent reports have indicated that the former Barcelona star will be headed to South Beach to play for the David Beckham-owned MLS club Inter Miami following the conclusion of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2022-23 season.

Messi’s historic season isn’t over just yet, though, as PSG — where he is teammates with France star Kylian Mbappe and Brazil star Neymar — is certainly one of the favorites to win this season’s Champions League.

Messi and PSG will resume their regular season on Wednesday, December 28 against Strasbourg, and will take on Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 in the Champions League on February 14 and March 8.
