A Butler basketball fan is going viral this weekend after she flashed a vicious “V’s Down” gesture during a win over Villanova. The celebration was caught on the live broadcast, sparking a major reaction social media.

The Bulldogs picked up the victory in exciting fashion, outlasting the Wildcats in not one, but two overtime sessions.

After falling behind by double digits early, Butler used a huge second half to force the extra periods. Much of that was due to guard DJ Davis, who scored all 28 of his points after the halftime break.

That momentum carried over into overtime, where the Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 24-17.

Excitement flowed throughout a packed Hinkle Fieldhouse as cameras panned to the raucous Butler crowd in the final moments. One shot on the live broadcast caught the now viral Butler fan going nuts in the stands.

Online followers caught the “V Down” and quickly responded on X.

“WITH FORCE! Nova may never recover.”

The gesture was eerily similar to the now controversial “Horns Down” used to troll Texas. The Longhorns have adamantly attempted to dissuade opposing players and fans from using the sign, though it often has the inverse effect.

Rivals use the gesture at every opportunity to get under the Longhorns’ skin, and it works much more effectively than it should! Look no further than UT basketball coach Rodney Terry’s explosion on the UCF team in the handshake line following a loss.

On the flip side, the griping has worked to some extent as we recently saw BYU force students wearing “Horns Down” t-shirts to change midgame.

Followers warned the Butler fan that something similar could happen to her!

“Escort her out before somebody’s feelings are hurt.”

“Careful, that’s a 15 yarder.”

“Unsportsmanlike! Ban her from games forever!”

“Expel her.”

“She’d better be careful. The way things are going she may get kicked out of the arena or be told how classless she is.”

“Somewhere a Longhorn is crying.”

No action has been taken (for now!), but a new trend could soon take over in opposing arenas this Villanova basketball season.
