The Indiana Fever held their first team practice on Sunday and it didn’t take very long for Caitlin Clark to remind everyone what a special player and person she is.

Fever teammate NaLyssa Smith has already revealed how much Clark has changed the culture around the team.

Meanwhile, Fever guard Erica Wheeler, who has been in the WNBA for 10 years, knows that Clark is probably going to take her spot in the starting lineup. And that’s just fine with her. After all, she was one of the Indiana Fever players who lost their mind at the team’s draft watch party when they selected Clark with the number one overall pick.

“It’s how I was raised, I don’t have no hate in my heart,” IndyStar.com reports Wheeler said. “I want everybody around me to win. Whether you are winning or not, I still want to push you to be great.

“So for me, I just thought, like, if I get ahead of it, I’m just making it comfortable right away. It’s just an easy, smooth transition.

“For me, I actually love it because I like being a big sister. I like helping first. I don’t really like getting help. So, it’s refreshing for me to be able to help her and be her big sister.”

Wheeler’s positive attitude hasn’t gone unnoticed by Caitlin Clark.

“I think she’s somebody that simply wants the best for people, no matter what,” Clark said. “People can say that, but she really lives it, every day, and you can tell that she’s going to push me, hold me accountable, she’s going to find ways to help me learn, but at the same time, she’s going to have my back every single day, and that’s something I’m really grateful for coming into this league, having a vet that really wants the best for you is special.”

Clark has been looking to Wheeler for help adjusting to the WNBA game.

“It’s definitely different, but that’s what you expect when you start a new chapter in your life,” WFIN News reports Clark said about the move up to the WNBA. “It’s fast, fast shot clock, but I think all of you know that’s how I like to play. So, I think it suits my game pretty well. It’s a fast pace, a lot faster than college, and you’ve to learn quicker because you’ve got to get your mind on Friday.”

One thing that hasn’t changed for Caitlin Clark though is her ability to drain shots from pretty much anywhere on the court.

Kelsey Mitchell is right. That’s not even fair.
