Is Caitlin Clark really the 11th best guard in her conference? Candace Parker certainly doesn’t think so and she called out the WNBA players and their “insecurities” for placing Caitlin Clark so low in their All-Star Game voting.
While Caitlin Clark will be a starter in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, it certainly wasn’t because her peers think she deserves it. She earned her spot because fans are 50% of the vote, while players and the media each count for 25%. She ranked second among the fans, third among the media, and 11th among the players. Interestingly, Clark also ranked as only the 9th best guard in the player vote in 2025.
“I wholeheartedly believe that there needs to be some rules with the WBA players because this is getting out of hand,” Candace Parker said on her Post Moves podcast. “Caitlin Clark voted 11th best guard by WNBA players? That’s crazy.”
Caitlin Clark is second in the WNBA in assists with 7.9 per game (tops among all guards in the league), and sixth in the league with 20.5 points per game (fifth best among guards).
Candace Parker thinks the WNBA All-Star voting needs an overhaul
“When I sat down, as much as I did not like Diana Taurasi, there ain’t no way I’m not going to write her as an All-Star person,” Parker added. “As much as I did not like anybody on the Lynx because they used to whoop our a–, I’m not going to not put Maya Moore or Sylvia Fowles.
“I don’t know. I think people need to look at themselves in the mirror and realize, like, man, you’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th best guard. Y’all need to go to a therapist and figure out what childhood issues you have. Cause if you’re sitting there and looking at yourself in the mirror and putting her as 11th best guard and you’re putting you as eighth best, like, come on.”
