Quarterback Carson Wentz didn’t exactly leave Indianapolis on great terms.
The passer was traded to Washington earlier this offseason after just one season with the Colts. Following the deal, Indianapolis management had some things to say about his departure.
Owner Jim Irsay downplayed Wentz’s contributions with the organization, saying that it was just the right time to part ways. This after tweeting out that NFL teams in this day and age need a quarterback that can score more than 30 points a game, obviously noting that Wentz was not that guy.
Wentz had been relatively silent regarding the jabs but on Thursday, he subtly broke his silence.
The signal caller posted an Instagram ad promoting the Bobcat machinery and equipment company. The caption read, “Building a higher road.”

You can definitely read into it as a shot at the Colts. Wentz had taken the high road with his silence but retaliating with a sponsored ad is next level.
The NFL reaction was equally as funny. A number of NFL media and fans commented on the post, noting both its subtlety and hilarity.
Is he moving salt with that thing?

Wouldn’t “taking the higher road” involve just not saying anything at all? Why post this?

Honestly, if that’s a shot, I’m actually impressed with the creativity in working it into an ad.

If that’s a #spon #ad it’s some really high level stuff

It's what you do when a classless owner calls you out publicly. Kudos to him. Last time I checked, the path to God didn't go through Mr. Irsay's front yard.

Lol at using a paid post to take a shot at someone. That's actually really funny.

Wentz will try to lead his new team, the Commanders, next year while also changing the narrative of his being a bad teammate. While he is on his way out of the AFC South, this post hints that he hasn’t forgotten about Irsay’s offseason comments.
