The latest report revealed that Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams indeed tore his ACL and will be out for the rest of the 2023 season.

Hopefully Williams will be able to return 100% for next season.

Original Story:

The Los Angeles Chargers are facing a significant setback as star wide receiver Mike Williams is feared to have suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury.

The injury happened during Sunday’s 28-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

Williams, known for his hands and big-time catches on jump balls, will undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the damage, but reports indicate there is a “real fear” that he may be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The injury occurred late in the third quarter when Williams was brought down awkwardly after an 11-yard reception on a wide receiver screen. Williams struggled to put any weight on his injured leg and had to be carted off the field and into the locker room for further evaluation.

Before the unfortunate injury, Williams had a spectacular game, recording seven receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown, courtesy of a trick-play pass from Keenan Allen.

Should Williams indeed be ruled out for the season, the Chargers will face the challenge of filling the void left by their star receiver.

2023 first-round rookie Quentin Johnston and third receiver Josh Palmer are expected to step up and assume more significant roles in the offense.
