This offseason sparked speculation that Andy Reid could be getting close to retirement from the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, there haven’t been many reports suggesting the 2023 season will be his last.

Despite that, the Chiefs’ owner Clark Hunt addressed those rumors and it sounds like Reid could be in for the long haul.

According to Pro Football Talk, “Hunt says that the 65-year-old Reid loves coaching as much as ever, and Hunt doesn’t see any reason that Reid won’t be the Chiefs’ head coach for many years to come.”

Here’s what Clark Hunt had to say about Andy Reid’s retirement speculation from the Chiefs.

“That’s never come up in my conversations with Andy. As I see Andy, he remains incredibly energized and excited. He’s all about the Kansas City Chiefs and trying to get us back to the playoffs and win another Super Bowl. I think he has as much energy and passion as I’ve seen in the 10-plus years that he’s been with us.”

If that’s the case, then Kansas City might just be paired up with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes for several more years.

In fact, Clark Hunt is so optimistic about Andy Reid remaining with the Chiefs that he had this to say about the retirement rumors that he doesn’t see him leaving anytime soon, per Pro Football Talk. “I really don’t. And I hope I don’t for a long time.”

Mahomes isn’t due to be a free agent again until the year 2032 when he’s 37-years old. If Reid stays along for the ride, he’ll be 74 at the end of Patrick Mahomes’ contract.

The oldest head coach in the league right now is Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks. He’s currently 71-years old and isn’t showing any signs of retiring soon either.

So, it’s not all that crazy to assume that Andy Reid will continue coaching the Chiefs instead of heading for retirement.

Besides, how can you walk away from a football team with Patrick Mahomes under center?
