Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Chris Simms stirred up some controversy by discussing the infamous ‘Tush-Push’ play.

During PFT Live, Simms made a provocative remark, saying, “If I was a Defensive Coach, I’d be going — go headhunting on the quarterback here, go ahead, dive over, go crazy, try to kill the quarterback.”

His co-host, Mike Florio, quickly interjected to clarify that Simms didn’t mean it quite as it sounded. Simms confirmed that, but the remark still managed to generate buzz on social media.

Earlier today, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke out about the negativity he’s been receiving over the ‘Tush-Push’ play. Even saying a fan wanted him injured over the play.

Simms’ comment, even if not meant to be taken literally adds to the debate over the play

Ex-All-Pro cornerback turned media member, Richard Sherman, also shared his take on the play.

Sherman pointed out the inconsistency in the NFL’s approach, saying, “My problem with the tush push is the NFL literally banned defensive players from pushing other players into the offensive formation on FG and PATs because it was a ‘Health and safety issue,’ but now it’s okay because it benefits the offense?”

Sherman’s take raises a valid question regarding the NFL position about player safety.

The ‘Tush-Push’ has been a hot button topic this year, the NFL had already considered banning the play during this offseason.

It’s possible the league will revisit their decision on the play next offseason.
