The Clemson Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies faced off in an exciting soccer match this week, giving viewers a wild finish on the pitch. It looked as if the contest would end in a 1-1 draw before a crazy ricochet on a corner kick gave the Tigers the win.

A Clemson player booted the corner inbound directly into the face of an opponent, which subsequently found the back of the net. The incredible goal came with just five seconds remaining on the clock.

The two teams faced off in ACC action with each looking to notch a league win. Clemson entered the matchup at 5-3-1 on the year, with a 1-2 mark in conference play.

The Hokies, meanwhile, came in at 3-2-3, with a pair of ACC wins as well as a draw.

Another draw appeared to be the likely outcome in this one before some last-minute heroics from the Tigers. As the final seconds ticked off the clock, Clemson sent a corner kick in for one last game-winning attempt.

The prayer would be answered in the most ridiculous of ways.

Senior midfielder Ousmane Sylla received that corner kick and proceeded to blast the ball with all he had in hopes of finding the net. Instead, he hit the face of a Virginia Tech player who painfully fell to the ground on contact.

Adding insult to injury, the head shot deflected the soccer ball past the Hokie goalkeeper to give Clemson the last second victory.

Fans were quick to comment on the exciting victory.

“He broke that dude’s face,” said one follower.

“What are the chances?” someone else asked.

“The headshot!” exclaimed this viewer.

With the last second goal, the Tigers landed their second league win to move into second place in the ACC Atlantic Division. Virginia Tech suffered its first loss in conference play to fall out of first place in the Coastal Division.
