Kentucky Basketball Coach John Calipari Goes ‘Sneaker Shopping’ And Shows Off A Pair Of $40,000 Rare Nike’s

The University of Kentucky’s head coach John Calipari is one of the most successful coaches in men’s basketball. He led his team to an NCAA National Championship in 2012. He’s made a coaching appearance in SIX Final Fours. He has won the SEC tournament and SEC regular-season 6 times (each).

Coach Calipari’s lifetime coaching record of 330-77 is why he rakes in a cool $9.27 million per year for coaching the Kentucky Wildcats. Under normal circumstances, we’d be on Night 2 of the ‘First Four’ games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament which were initially set to take place on March 17 and 18 at the University of Dayton.

The First and Second Rounds would’ve begun on Thursday, March 19, and run through the weekend but here we are, watching this clip of Kentucky’s Coach Calipari going Sneaker Shopping with Joe La Puma. Coach Calipari shows off his rare Nike’s appraised at $40,000, a pair that was autographed by him and Drake. He talks about Drake’s relationship with the team as a diehard Wildcats fan, the team’s long-standing partnership with Nike, and the iconic Nike Dunk sneaker.

I usually end these Sneaker Shopping articles ranting about how I refuse to believe these guests are actually paying their own money for sneakers but 9 times out of 10 the guests are athletes or rappers, people sponsored by either Adidas or Nike, and I assume someone’s out there to pick up the bill after the celeb throws down their credit card.

This time around I’m 99.999% certain that Coach Calipari isn’t paying because he’s in charge of a f’n Nike sponsored team! How would they ever make him pay for shoes?! Why are we supposed to believe that he’s spending his own damn money on shoes???? I’m seriously supposed to sit here and act like I believe he’s spending $1,411 on sneakers made by his sponsor?! C’mon, man.
