The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly signed former first-round pick Safety Malik Hooker through a three-year contract extension.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter the deal is worth up to $24 million, includes $8 million signing bonus and $16.5 million in guarantees.

The former Ohio State standout initially entered the NFL as the 15th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.

After signing a modest one-year contract with the Cowboys in 2021, Hooker embraced his role as the team’s third safety, providing crucial depth and contributing when called upon.

Throughout 16 games in the 2022 season, Hooker evolved into a dependable component of the Cowboys’ defensive scheme, commanding a remarkable 81 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

This newfound prominence did not go unnoticed, as Hooker showcased his versatility and prowess on the field. His contributions were highlighted by three interceptions, and a total of 62 tackles.

One standout moment that encapsulated Hooker’s impact occurred during Week 13, when he intercepted a fumble and returned it a staggering 32 yards for a touchdown.

With a career total of 11 interceptions, Hooker’s ball-hawking prowess aligns seamlessly with the Cowboys’ defensive strategy.

The Cowboys also recently signed All-Pro Cornerback Trevon Diggs to a staggering $104 million contract, solidifying his status as a cornerstone of the team’s defense.

This pair of signings signals the Cowboys’ intent to construct a multifaceted defense capable of thwarting even the most potent offensive units in the league.
