Running back Dalvin Cook is on the market after the Minnesota Vikings informed him that he’d be released this week. Rumors have swirled surrounding the star rusher’s future.
In May, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that “all signs pointed to” a split between the two parties. Those talks intensified after the team’s offensive coordinator made some interesting comments about the running back room.
On Thursday, the announcement was made that the Vikings would be moving on. They’d seek trades up through the end of the week before beginning the release process.
Vikings are expected to try to trade four-time Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook one more time today and if they are unable to, they would plan to process his official release Friday, per source.

With the news going public, speculation has run wild. Cook, himself, teased maybe his most desired landing spot by posting a photo of him on the sidelines at Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.
The betting odds, however, name another favorite.

The Jets slightly edge the Dolphins with +600 odds, and should they land the running back, it would give Aaron Rodgers a homerun threat in the backfield.
They’ve already become a contender in the Super Bowl conversation, and adding another Pro Bowl talent would only bolster the offense.
Fans were quick to comment on social media.
One person wrote, “This surprises me,” while another said, “I thought the favorites were Miami and Denver.”
Of course, it’s not a slam dunk that he’d land in the Big Apple. Dalvin Cook appears to have a real interest in Miami, and the Cowboys also have a shot to land his services. They could be after a tailback following the release of Ezekiel Elliott.
It should be an interesting offseason for the running back as he leaves Minnesota for the first time in his NFL career. We’ll see if the Jets can sign him or if he winds up elsewhere.
