Rumors surrounding Dalvin Cook have been swirling since the beginning of the offseason.

However, they’ve reached new heights after the Minnesota Vikings‘ offensive coordinator, Wes Phillips, was asked about the running back position.

According to Kevin Seifert, Phillips was asked if backup running back Ty Chandler “is ready for an increased role.” The Vikings’ OC responded with, “I think he’s going to have to be.”

Now, that’s not all that much information. An increased role could mean anything from receiving more snaps in the backfield or helping out on special teams.

However, it’s noteworthy that the offensive coordinator thinks the presumed third string running back needs to prepare for an increased role.

If Phillips’ words hold any merit, perhaps it’s time for Vikings fans to actually be ready to move on from Dalvin Cook.

There are numerous rumors about opposing teams making trade offers for the star running back. However, nothing has come to fruition just yet.

On the other hand, there is the possibility the Vikings simply release Dalvin Cook altogether.

With that said, nothing is set in stone right now. Cook is still on the roster, despite the ongoing rumors.

Additionally, releasing Dalvin Cook doesn’t necessarily help the roster much. Especially at this point in the offseason where the saved money probably won’t be used until next year.

But these comments from Wes Phillips may have solidified the situation going on in Minnesota.

Having said that, breaking news could be on the verge. So keep a close eye on Dalvin Cook and the Vikings.
