  • Former Florida head football coach Dan Mullen has always made every moment about himself, but could never handle anyone pushing back.
  • That, according to a Georgia fan who claims to have run into Mullen on vacation, is still the case.

Dan Mullen was let go as the head football coach at the University of Florida in November. He will make $12 million from the Gators to not coach their team.

And yet, despite his sizable unemployment paycheck, he apparently still cannot handle the heat.

Mullen, who always found a way to make everything about himself while still at Florida, was often a farcical showman. His football credibility was ended by Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz shortly after he was fired and he turned down a notable offer from the Gators, which showed how soft he really is.

According to a Georgia fan named Cody, his skin still lacks thickness. As the story goes, Cody ran into Dan Mullen and his wife while on vacation in Park City, Utah.

Naturally, Cody hit him with a “Go Dawgs.” Florida and Georgia are big rivals and UGA just won a national championship. Of course Bulldogs fans are going to chirp any head coach of the Gators when given the opportunity.

Although it may not be the best protocol to address public figures in public, it is standard operating procedure and completely warranted. Especially if it’s just a “Go Dawgs” and nothing personal.

And yet, neither Mullen nor his wife could handle the heat.

In response, Mullen told Cody that he is “enjoying retirement,” which is a completely fair response. In fact, Mullen had every right to take it one step further and say “I’m enjoying my $12 million buyout in retirement.” It would have been a great reply chirp. But he didn’t.

Instead, he and his wife are said to have begged Cody to back off. Soft.
