South Carolina had a fitting guest for its game against Kentucky over the weekend. DJ artist Darude was in attendance, hyping up Gamecocks fans as they watched their team on the field.

He even gave a live in-game performance of “Sandstorm” which produced a raucous scene in Williams-Brice Stadium.

The South Carolina football team has grown synonymous with the 90s techno hit, which it’s used to build the home field atmosphere since 2009.

It was announced earlier this year that we’d finally get the DJ on-hand in Columbia with him set to play a live set and kick off the festivities before a huge SEC matchup.

Darude introduced the team on the field with a “Gamecocks” chant just before the game’s start. He then made his way up to a DJ booth in the crowd.

South Carolina got on the board first in the game, going up 7-0 in the first quarter on a Spencer Rattler touchdown pass. The musician figured that was the perfect time to throw down a live performance of “Sandstorm” from his box.

And the scene was electric.

Combined with an incredible light show, Williams-Brice Stadium broke into a complete rave with towels waving and fans screaming. When the beat drops, utter chaos sets in.

Chills.

A number of college football accounts reposted videos of Darude’s live performance alongside the reactions of Gamecock supporters.

Darude Sandstorm live is pure electricity.”

“Give South Carolina all the night games.”

“Darude was living his best life at the game.”

Darude appeared to be blown away with his experience in Columbia.

“I don’t have words to say, but [the fans] are speaking for me, right now. This is insane.”

After the game, head coach Shane Beamer commented on the electric atmosphere, though he believes the students section could’ve been a bit more supportive of the team in a contest that came down to the wire.

With Darude’s help in creating a wild in-game environment, the Gamecocks beat Kentucky, 17-14.
