Of all the players on the New York Jets who should be thrilled about the arrival of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it stands to reason that second-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson should be the most ecstatic.

After spending his rookie seasons catching passes from a trio of scrubs, the supremely talented Ohio State University product now has arguably the greatest pure thrower of a football in the history of the league as his signal-caller.

According to word out of Jets camp, the chemistry between the pair is already developing, as evidenced by this insane catch that Wilson made in the endzone during a practice session.

Taking to Instagram to react to a highlight of the pair from Jets’ training camp, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams said that his former teammate and Wilson are going to “act up” this year.

During Adams’ final season in Green Bay, the Pro Bowl wideout posted 123 catches for 1,553 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Comparatively, during his rookie year, while he was playing with the underwhelming trio of Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mike White, Wilson reeled in 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns, which suggests he should explode during his sophomore season with Rodgers passing him the ball instead.

In Rodgers and Wilson, the Jets’ have something that their franchise has never had before, and that’s a combination of an elite quarterback and wide receiver. Over the last 25 years or so, the Jets’ best home-grown receivers have been Wayne Chrebet, Laveranues Coles, Jerricho Cotchery, and Keyshawn Johnson, while they also acquired the likes of Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Brandon Marshall, and Eric Decker during the latter stages of their careers.

Even still, when those receivers were on the Jets, their quarterbacks were the likes of Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, Chad Pennington, Vinny Testaverde, and so on — none of which were able to even glimpse the heights that Rodgers has reached during his career. This is all to say that, if the pair stay healthy for all 17 games, Wilson is likely in line for the best receiving season in the history of the franchise.
