Deion Sanders and Colorado Lose Big-Time Quarterback Recruit After Another Loss To End Season

Colorado’s 3-0 start seems so long ago, even though it was just over two months ago on the calendar. And, after the team finished their season 1-7 to end up 4-8, Deion Sanders and company lost their star recruit in the 2025 class, top-five quarterback Antwann Hill Jr.

Hill announced his decommitment to On3 recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett.

Here’s more from the article linked in the tweet.

“Hill sent a statement to On3 concerning his decommitment:

‘I was strongly thinking about reclassifying to 2024. After a long talk with my family, I’m (not) reclassifying anymore and would like to reopen my recruitment.'”

The hits just keep coming for Colorado, who had a five-star wide receiver in class of 2025’s Winston Watkins Jr. decommit from the program just two weeks ago.

That’s what happens when you lose seven of your last eight games, many of them in embarrassing fashion. TO their credit, many thought that Utah, one of the most physical teams in the country which looked on paper to be a terrible matchup for them, would destroy the Buffs on Saturday.

But, Colorado hung in there and only lost 23-17, a very respectable result all things considered. Still, that hasn’t done anything to help the program regain the momentum it had during the offseason and their incredible 3-0 start. Their recruiting class for 2024 is ranked an abysmal 60th, and their 2025 class is down to just one commit, Jamarice Wilder. Coach Prime is going to have to find a way to get the momentum back.

As for Hill Jr., he’s one of the most sought-after players in the country, and the Warner Robins, Georgia native will be hotly pursued by plenty of the biggest programs in the nation. It’s such a huge loss for Colorado. Assuming Deion was going to hang around there, and that’s a big if, he would’ve been the quarterback of the future after Shedeur Sanders leaves the program, and had the talent to be a first-round pick. But, you’ve got to win football games. 4-8 isn’t going to cut it.
