Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is always a trendy name mentioned when big-time college football jobs become available, and this offseason is no different following Nick Saban’s abrupt retirement at Alabama.

With college football’s GOAT riding off into the sunset, many want to see a new wave infiltrating the Crimson Tide.

Sanders meets that qualification.

Coach Prime is the sport’s top user of the transfer portal, quickly flipping his roster in Boulder. Over two recruiting seasons at the helm, he’s assembled the top ranked transfer class in each.

Last year’s group helped the Buffs improve from a one-win team in 2022 to 4-8 the following campaign. Of those eight losses, five came by a touchdown or less, suggesting he’s rebuilding at a rate more quickly than originally anticipated.

Despite a losing record and poor finish to the year, he was able to stay in the college football limelight. The brand that is ‘Coach Prime’ helped land national exposure to a program that’s been far from the center of media attention.

Sanders is attempting to prove his doubters wrong by building something strong in Boulder, but many often speculate about how long that tenure will last.

What’s his next step?

His name picked up momentum when the Texas A&M gig opened up this year. In that case, he stayed put, referencing family in his reasoning for not chasing the job.

Alabama is a different animal, though, and it could be an opportunity too good to pass up.

Would he garner serious consideration to replace Nick Saban? He certainly stirred the pot with his latest social media post.

“I look good and feel good and if you’re offended by my confidence, oh well,” Sanders wrote on X. “In 2024 I’m truly saying what I feel and feeling what I say.”

Many around the sport say you’d have to be nuts to follow-up Nick Saban, but that confidence is why Prime might be the perfect candidate for the job!

The comments section was full of response.

“He had to post a pic on a plane to work everyone up.”

“That plane is Bama bound, I’m sick.”

“Jet to T-Town?”

“Are you trolling at a time like this?!”

“Huge day for the Boulder to Bama flight tracker industry.”

“Only man on the planet with enough confidence to follow Saban.”

“WHERE IS THAT PLANE GOING, PRIME?”

Great work here by Coach Sanders. We’ll see if he gets a legitimate look from Alabama.
