The NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and speculation surrounding the No. 1 overall pick has become a bit clearer. The Tennessee Titans are positioned to select first. They are likely to go in the direction of a quarterback.
The top two passers on most boards have been Cam Ward of Miami and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado. A recent move from the organization provided potential insight into their top target.
The Titans had representation in Boulder this past Friday to watch both Sanders and teammate Travis Hunter at the school’s annual pro day event. Hunter took limited reps, only running routes as a receiver.
Sanders, meanwhile, showcased his full arsenal to scouts in attendance. The signal caller threw more than 60 passes, flashing accuracy (5 incompletions) and precision, though questions about his arm strength remain.
He also piqued viewers’ interest with a pre-throw motion possibly detrimental to his professional success. Sanders pats the ball before his release. A number of current NFL defenders took note of the habit. They insinuated that it could tip defenses off, making it easier to jump routes.
That debate raged on over the next few days. Some believe it’s something that needs to be broken. Others insist it’s a big nothing burger.
All in all, it was a solid pro day performance. Still, Tennessee saw enough to move on from the quarterback.
The Titans canceled a private workout with Shedeur Sanders.

The move all but solidifies Cam Ward’s standing as the future No. 1 overall pick. That would make Sanders available to other QB-needy franchises.
Cleveland, New York, and Las Vegas all own Top 10 picks. It’s unlikely that Sanders would fall further than that, though there are some mock drafts that see him dropping to the late first round.
The Browns are the wildcard. They could take a passer following the failed Deshaun Watson project. They could take the best overall player in Travis Hunter to bolster both the offense and defense. They could go in the direction of a pass rusher like Abdul Carter.
That choice could ultimately decide whether or not Deion Sanders gets his NFL Draft wish. Coach Prime is on record saying that he’d prefer his son play in New York. The Giants, who pick at No. 3, could make that happen if he slips past Cleveland.
The difference in those selections is significant. Spotrac predicts that the No. 2 overall pick comes with an estimated value of about $41.1 million. The No. 3 choice is slotted at $39.9 million.
With all of that being said, Deion Sanders is open to any landing spot when it comes to Shedeur’s NFL future. He believes his son can succeed at any stop.
“If it’s New York, it’s New York. If it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans, if it’s any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback, I’m happy with it. Because I know what he’s gonna do to the organization.”

Shedeur Sanders is also confident in his abilities to produce at the next level. “All I need is a chance,” he said at Colorado’s pro day. “Whatever franchise wants to change their franchise, then it’s no doubt who to go with… You’ll be a fool not to pick me.”
That confidence has been evident throughout the pre-draft process.
I asked Shedeur how comfortable he’d be in a “rebuild” situation in the NFL:
“I don’t think Jackson State or Colorado had a winning history before I got there … whoever sees the value in that will be lucky to get me.” pic.twitter.com/9uB79Qa4G0

Barring some unforeseen circumstance, Shedeur Sanders is going to hear his name called on Day 1 of the NFL Draft. The only question now is, where will he end up?
Deion Sanders might be hoping he slides to No. 3, even if it costs his son $1.2 million. We’ll find out soon enough with the draft kicking off on April 24th.
